Our Idea & Others On The Market

Our final idea is similar to the 2006 film 'John Tucker Must Die.'

John Tucker must die is a Rom-com based in America. It's story line is about 3 girls who find out John has been seeing all 3 of them at the same time and saying to each girl that they are 'the one'. All 3 girls try to set him up with another girl in school in hope that he will get his heart broken, which will make him understand how all 3 of them felt when they found out his manipulative scheme.

Our idea however is about one boy who is trying to get revenge on his ex-girlfriend for dumping him and causing him embarrassment. The girl then decides to get back with the boy but the boy decides to play the girl at her own game and make her feel his pain and embarrassment.

Although our ideas are similar they have completely different concepts and will be represented differently.

Our Final Idea

Our romantic comedy (Rom-com) 2 minute film opening idea

BASIC DESCRIPTION
  • various shots of the couple happily together and in love
  • a shot of the couple arguing and breaking up
  • a medium shot of one character ripping up a picture of them to show their relationship is over
  • the title 'karma' then appears.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In the opening scene we will show close-ups of the pictures of the couple (Jacob, played by Joe Shaw and Isabella, played by Gina Fort) in memory of their happy relationship. A short part of the opening will then show the couple arguing and splitting up. A close-up will then appear of Jacob looking upset and distraught and then Isabella looking happy and not bothered. A fading camera shot will the show the close-up as a distant memory. Another medium shot from behind Jacob will then show him ripping up something the viewer cannot see. Then when Jacob leaves the camera zooms onto in on the thing that he ripped up thing which is a photo. The photo is of the couple ripped up and then a title appears saying 'KARMA'

Our chosen Idea

We have chosen to do idea 3 for our final project. We are now going to start researching into doing that as our idea and how we can make it work.

Idea 3

Karma was another film idea that we produced, the genre is Rom-com; this was the genre that we thought we would enjoy the most and would enjoy filming. Feedback was given when we produced our presentation to the class, it was very useful, it was mainly positive but we did get a negative but that could be worked on, and we changed that to a positive. A basic and detailed description was posted on our blog to show and represent the ideas and films relating to the film itself.

Idea 2

Lost times was another film idea that our group produced. The genre of the film is a Romance. We liked this idea as we prefer to do a Rom-com or just romance, as we thought a thriller wouldn't be very original, but from the analysis and the feedback that was given after our pitch, there was many faults with this idea and required a lot of work to ensure that the opening scene would be of good quality and interest to the audience.

Idea 1

Changing Identities was the first of out 3 film ideas, the genre was an action or thriller. We decided against this film was because the hassle or difficulty contacting the police about allowing the props on the streets e.g. knifes. Changing Identities would have been a really easy film to shoot as it would be a lot of jump cuts.

Research Into Titles

This is a picture of my 'This Is England' opening time line.

This exercise taught me about openings. It also taught me about what directors want to achieve by an opening which will help me and my group create ours similar to this one.
